New Zealand is a inspirational Country. Especially when you fly your personal photographer out with you to photograph some creative and colourful pictures. Images you want to splash over social media and show your grandkids.
Shaun grew up in Algies Bay, just a few miles from where the couple tied the knot, but he moved to Bristol in the UK six years ago.
Why Bristol?
To spend some time with Granny, to experience life in the city his Dad was born in before emigrating to New Zealand when he was a teenager, oh, and to meet his future wife.
Families meeting for the first time, twins re-united, a new engagement and a 30th birthday gave even more cause for celebration than the average destination wedding.
Days before the wedding took place there was a quieter celebration going on in a plane flying to the wedding from Dubai. Faes best friend and bridesmaid Gemma got engaged.
And the day after the wedding it was Shauns brother Jareds 30th birthday who was also the best man. Although the bottle of tequila Jared was given during the speeches at the wedding meant his celebrations the next day were a little more hazy.
So, to the Creative & colourful wedding itself.
Fae and Shaun found a beautiful House on the Hill outside Matakana which they hired for 5 days so could hold the whole celebration in one place. It is an amazing property which wouldnt look out of place in a feature in Elle Decoration with beautifully thought out interiors and amazing views.
Preparations were very simple before the wedding with the bride, bridesmaids and mother of the bride all being made up at the house by Nikki Milina, whos worked on films including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Fae and her maids then simply walked out to the the garden of the house for the ceremony led by the vivacious celebrant Libby Dykes, on a windy but colourful sunny hilltop overlooking Whangateau Harbour and the prestigious Omaha Bay where none other than the Prime Minister of New Zealand has a holiday bach.
Libby was so refreshing to work with. For the first time in my career I was allowed to photograph the couple signing the register and guess what I wasnt struck down by lightning. Creative & colourful wedding photographer Hacker explains.
The reception was held in the sunshine shaded by a cabana with views across the water to Sandspit. It was the first time I was asked to be a Matakana wedding photographer, Auckland and couldnt get over how amazing the light was. Hacker says. I was so taken by the scenery we decided to do a Dust off the Dress shoot a couple of days after the wedding but cant wait to get back out there again to photograph more weddings and commercial shoots.
Food was a delicious barbecue with salmon, pork belly and white fish served up alongside stunning salads all by Matakana based caterers We Love Food.
Guests then sipped on their homemade Lemoncello favours and elderflower champagne taking in the magnificent surroundings while getting to know each others new family members way after the bright golden sun had set.
