It’s fashionable for brides to be late for their weddings but this was the first Hacker had photographed delayed because the bride’s sister had broken a nail.

Grant and Shirine got married (a few minutes later than planned) at The Society of Merchant Venturers on The Promenade in Clifton.

The couple live in the historic area of Bristol so picked venues there to host their wedding.
Earlier Shirine got ready at their house in Clifton, Grant and his groomsmen got ready at The Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel at the bottom of Park Street and later the party kicked off at the Lido.

“The restored Victorian outdoor pool was an interesting place to shoot at. When I arrived I thought some of the guests seemed a little underdressed – until I realised the spa was still open for members to use.” jokes wedding photographer Hacker.

While guests moved between The Merchant Venturers and the Lido, Grant and Shirine were meant to head off for their couple shots.

“But the best laid plans often overrun.” says Hacker. “There were a load of extra groups to shoot at the last minute which meant we didn’t have as much time as I needed to capture the Clifton wedding photography originally intended. So we hopped in the Rolls Royce ‘Ghost’ and went to Stoke’s Croft where a man with flowers in his hair nearly stole my camera from me.”

Shirine’s Christian Louboutins were a present from Grant given to her just before he left for his stag do – romantic or what?!

Back at the Lido guests were tucking into drinks purchased at the neighbouring Victoria pub (where they were half the price) and smuggled back into the Lido – classy or what?!

And a rare thing happened at Grant and Shirine’s Bristol alternative wedding – the videographer and photographer actually got on. Not a fisticuff in sight.
